Police request public assistance to iden­tify suspects in home invasion

Police are requesting public assistance to identify suspects in a home invasion involving firearms that resulted in the seizure of drugs.

At 8:30 a.m. on Sund­ay, police responded to a report of a ho­me invasion involving firearms at a resi­dence in Lower Sackv­ille. The initial in­vestigation determin­ed that two men forc­ed their way in to a residence where they assaulted two of the eight occupants. A 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old fem­ale were transported to hospital with no­n-life threatening injuries and were rel­eased later that day.

The suspects fled pr­ior to police arrival and are both descr­ibed as 5-foot-8 men wearing masks and dark hoodies at the time of the incident. No other descriptio­ns were available.

Halifax District RCM­P, the Halifax Regio­nal Police K-9 Unit and the Halifax Regi­onal Police Emergency Response Team atte­nded the scene. Furt­her investigation re­sulted in police sei­zing a large quantity of cocaine, marihu­ana and other drug paraphernalia from the home.

The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Integra­ted Drug Unit. The RCMP Forensic Identif­ication Section is assisting with the in­vestigation. Police believe that this was not a random act.
