UPDATED: Police respond to a reported child luring incident

At 5:30 pm west division patrol officers responded to Fieldstone Street in Halifax to a report of a child luring incident.  Two boys, ages 6 and 10 years old, were walking along Fieldstone street towards their residence when what is described as an older model grey or blue, possibly Dodge caravan, pulled up alongside them.

The boys thought the vehicle contained two white females but a neighbor believed the passenger was male.  The neighbour did not witness the actual incident but did observe a minivan  driving slowly in the area at the time.  The occupants were described to be white and in their 40`s.  The female driver asked the boys if they needed any help and if they would like to get into the van.  The boys allege they were followed home where the female exited the van and followed them to the front door of their residence.  As the boys closed the door to their residence the female is said to have returned to the van and left the area.  Police members searched the area but were unable to locate the described vehicle.   No further description of the suspects or vehicle is known at this time.    The children were not physically harmed during the incident and this is the only report received at this time.  Police will continue to investigate this incident and would like to remind parents to discuss with their children a plan of action when they are confronted by strangers.

UPDATED: As a result of the previous media release, Halifax Regional Police were contacted by two females who stated that they were the ones noted in the van. The two women, aged 41 and 62 years old, met with police this morning. They informed police that it appeared that the two boys were fighting with each other and that they were concerned for their safety. The women asked the boys if they were okay and then subsequently followed them to their house to ensure that they got home safely. Officers then checked with the parents of the boys who confirmed that this is accurate as to what happened. There does not appear to be anything suspicious about this incident. Halifax Regional Police would like to thank the two women for coming forward and clarifying the situation.
