Halifax Regional Police currently have a 27 year old male in custody as a result of four robberies that occurred earlier today between 5:00am and 12:00 pm.
The first robbery occurred at the Quinpool Road McDonalds Restaurant. The second was at the Quinpool Road Superstore. The third at the Robie Street Irving service station and the final robbery at the Robie Street Shell service station.
During all incidents the suspect either produced a knife or gestured that he was in possession of a weapon while demanding cash from the employees.
As a result of the evidence collected at the scenes officers identified a suspect and shortly before 1:00pm arrested a 27 year old Halifax male. He was arrested without incident after leaving a Brunswick Street residence.
Police have executed a search warrant at the suspects residence and detectives assigned to the integrated General Investigative Section will be interviewing him.
The suspect will remain in police custody and face a bail hearing on Sunday. Thankfully no employees were injured during any of the incidents. The suspect will be charged with 4 counts of robbery, 4 counts of breaching a probation order and 3 counts of possession of a weapons dangerous to the public.

At 11:30 pm the 27 year old suspect that Halifax Regional Police have in custody from yesterday’s four robbery incidents attempted to escape lawful custody. While being escorted from the interview room to the booking detention area he attempted to flee from police custody by exiting the booking door and running into the exterior gated compound. He was promptly captured without incident within the gated compound and returned to the detention area. He will be facing the additional charges of escape from lawful custody and another breach of probation charge.
