Police search for assault suspect – Halifax

Halifax Regional Police are searching for a man who was involved in an assault that occurred on Sunday in Point Pleasant Park.

At approximately 3:30 to 4 p.m. on October 21, police responded to a report of an assault in progress at Point Pleasant Park, near Fort Road and Ogilvie Road. A man was walking three dogs, two Rottweilers and one Border Collie, when an altercation occurred between him and a woman who was at the park with her dog. He threatened to hurt both the woman and her dog. The suspect proceeded to punch a man, who was with the woman, in the face.

The suspect fled to the lower parking lot and sped away in a newer model SUV, maroon or burgundy in colour. The vehicle had a temporary permit in the front windshield and no license plate. The vehicle likely also has damage to the rear from striking a beige Mazda truck in the parking lot.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion, in his mid-30s to early-40s, 5’8” to 5’11” tall and approximately 190lbs. He had scruffy facial hair and was wearing a wide brimmed sun hat, sunglasses, a gray flannel jacket, dark plants and bright white running shoes.

Anyone who has information about this incident or video footage from the area is asked to call police at 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or using the P3 Tips App.
