RCMP release:

Lunenburg District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Lilydale, near Lunenburg.

On August 19 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP, fire services, and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Northwest Rd. near Schnares Crossing Rd. Officers learned that a Chevrolet Spark had collided with a Hyundai Accent then a Dodge Ram.

A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 53-year-old man from Blockhouse, was transported to hospital and pronounced deceased. The driver was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and a second passenger was transported to hospital by EHS.

The driver and passenger in the Dodge Ram reported minor injuries. The driver and only occupant of the Hyundai Accent did not report any physical injuries.

Northwest Rd. was closed for several hours between Hwy. 332 and Fauxburg Rd. while an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the location of the collision.

Officers appreciate the actions of bystanders who offered assistance at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
