Police seeking information after shooting in North Preston

The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is seeking information in relation to a shooting in North Preston that left one man with life-threatening injuries.

On March 14, at approximately 4:23 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment, with assistance of Halifax Regional Police, responded to a report of a shooting on Downey Rd. Police immediately responded and located an 18-year-old man outside with an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers provided first aid until EHS arrived. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance with life threatening injuries.

Throughout the investigation, officers found numerous shell casings and damage consistent with bullet holes. No other injuries have been reported to police.

At this time, the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate. Investigators do not believe this was a random act, and the investigation is ongoing with a police presence still at the scene.
