Police seize contraband tobacco, Halifax, N.S.

RCMP ‘H’ Division Serious and Organized Crime Quick Response Unit (HSOC) seized a quantity of tobacco after a traffic stop in Enfield.

On May 24th, at 1:50 a.m.

, officers from the RCMP HSOC unit, with assistance from Service Nova Scotia’s Compliance and Special Investigation’s Team and Enfield RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 102. As a result of the traffic stop the 52-year-old male driver was arrested and 6.5 cartons of contraband tobacco was seized.

The 52-year-old man from Dartmouth was released from police custody and will be facing charges under the Excise Act and the Nova Scotia Revenue Act. He will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial court on July 29th, 2014.
