Police have seized drugs and charged three individuals following a two month investigation into drug trafficking.
On February 19th, members of Combined Forces Intelligence Unit, with assistance from the RCMP Federal Serious & Organized Crime Unit and Halifax Regional Police executed three simultaneous search warrants at a residence in Lower Sackville and a residence and storage unit in Halifax.
During the searches, approximately 4.5 ounces of cocaine, 90 oxycontin tablets, 350 meth tablets, seven hydromorphone pills, a small quantity of marijuana, a handgun, brass knuckles, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a significant amount of cash was seized.
As a result, a 50-year-old Lower Sackville man, a 48-year-old Lower Sackville woman and a 62-year-old Halifax man were arrested without incident.
Fifty-year-old Derreck Dean Huggan of Lower Sackville has been charged with:
· Possession of Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Oxycontin for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of Marijuana and Hydromorphone
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
· Breach of Recognizance
The Lower Sackville woman is facing charges of:
· Possession of Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Oxycontin for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of Marijuana and Hydromorphone
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
The Halifax man is facing charges of:
· Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Derreck Dean Huggan will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at 2 p.m.
The Lower Sackville woman and Halifax man were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear at Dartmouth Provincial Court and Halifax Provincial Court respectively, on April 7th, 2015.
The investigation is ongoing.
