Police spot stolen car on Kempt Road, driver bolts on foot

HRP release:

On May 30 at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a theft of a vehicle that occurred in the 100 block of Ochterloney Street in Dartmouth. At approximately 9:50 p.m., officers observed the vehicle travelling on Kempt Road in Halifax. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at which time a male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Ater a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.  The vehicle was recovered and later returned to the owner.

Dustin MacDonald, 29 is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
  • Motor vehicle theft
  • Obstruct peace officer/resist arrest
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand for testing
  • Failure to comply with condition of release order (x2)

MacDonald was also issued a ticket for driving a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
