Police Stop Assault with a Weapon – Halifax

At 2:54 p.m. an off duty Halifax Regional Police officer observed a physical assault between two adult males in the 2000 block of Gottingen Street Halifax.​ The suspect (26-year-old) had forced the victim (58-year-old) to the ground and produced a knife attacking the victim.​ The off duty officer immediately intervened subduing the suspect still armed with the knife, preventing further injury to the victim.​ The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was checked by paramedics.​ Police have learned this incident was not random and both males are known to each other.​ A 26-year-old male from Halifax is held for court facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
