This Thanksgiving weekend, police agencies across Canada will take part in Operation Impact, a Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police National Road Safety Initiative to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways.
In Nova Scotia, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Halifax Regional Police (HRP) and Cape Breton Regional Police Service (CBRPS) will have a strong presence through highway patrols and coordinated checkpoints across the province.
RCMP, HRP,and CBRPS will focus enforcement efforts on the four primary causal factors of fatal and serious injury from motor vehicle collisions: impaired driving, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding/aggressive driving and driver inattention/distraction.
Heading into the long weekend, RCMP, HRP and CBRPS are asking motorists to please buckle up, keep your eyes on the road, give yourself extra time to reach your destination and slow down. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
