Halifax Regional Police is warning citizens of unsafe conditions on the road and is urging everyone to avoid unnecessary travel. A combination of factors is posing serious safety hazards across the region. They include downed power lines, trees and debris on streets, power outages that are affecting traffic lights and intersections and extensive isolated flooding throughout the region.
Despite these conditions, many vehicles are on the road this morning, which is adding to the unsafe conditions. We recognize some travel is unavoidable, but we ask everyone to consider other options before venturing out. As first responders work on recovery efforts following Hurricane Fiona, they are also faced this morning with poor weather conditions. We ask everyone to keep these recovery efforts in mind and put theirs and others’ safety first through this difficult time.
