Port Hawkesbury RCMP are investigating a fire at a home that claimed the life of a young boy.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. on April 3rd, 2015, the Port Hawkesbury Fire Department and RCMP responded to a fire at a residence on Bourinot Dr.
A nine year-old boy and 34-year-old woman were transported to hospital with injuries sustained as a result of the fire.
Earlier today, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The woman remains in critical condition.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
An autopsy is scheduled for this week. The Fire Marshal and Port Hawkesbury RCMP continue to investigate.
