Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that work on Portland Street will begin today to extend the natural gas main between King Street and Alderney Drive.
This work will include saw cutting asphalt, natural gas installation and restoration. Construction is expected to be complete within seven business days.
No work will take place between the two traditional rush hours (7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.). There will be stop-and-go traffic while work is underway. Pedestrians will be directed around the work site as needed.
Motorists should expect delays and are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
