The award is presented to volunteers or community organizations to recognize outstanding achievements in the improvement of recreation/leisure opportunities locally, regionally or provincially. The nominee should reflect the communities healthier future through activities and services that promote the value and benefits of recreation.
Nominated by Doug Branscombe and Peter Jollimore, with support from Councillor Reg Rankin the Prospect Road Community Centre Steering Committee received Recreation Nova Scotia’s Bluenose Achievement Award on Friday 19th November 2010 at RNS’ 13th Annual Conference and Trade Show at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel, Halifax.
Accepting the award were, Barb Allen (Chair) Lisa Mullin (Secretary) Lisa Beddow (Treasurer), Rhonda Dea, Wendy Purcell, Jessica Morrissey, Kelly Carlton, Lindsay Rice, Julia Watt, Councillor Reg Rankin and Shelley Thomas. Dave McDonald was unable to attend the event. In addressing the audience Barb commented that the work of the committee has been well rewarded by seeing the community centre so well used and embraced by residents of all ages.
