Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025 (Halifax, N.S.) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents about impacts to municipal services resulting from the water main repair currently underway by Halifax Water in the Waverley Road area.
Comfort centre
A comfort centre will be available from 2:30 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the East Dartmouth Community Centre, 50 Caledonia Road in Dartmouth, to assist any residents who have not yet had water service restored.
It is still to be determined if the comfort centre will need to reopen on Monday, Dec. 8.
In addition, washroom and shower facilities are also available at the following municipal recreation facilities:
Parks & Recreation (P&R)
At this time, there are no confirmed impacts to programming or bookings at P&R facilities. If that changes, users will be contacted by staff.
Halifax Transit
There are no significant impacts to Halifax Transit services. Route 55 is on detour due to the water main repair efforts, but no bus stops are impacted.
Boil water advisory
The boil water advisory from Halifax Water remains in effect until further notice. Additional information is available on the Halifax Water webpage.
Other information
Motorists should expect delays in the area of the water main repair work and are asked to use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

Halifax Water release:
Halifax Water crews continue to advance work on the Waverley Road watermain repair, which occurred yesterday, December 6. Overnight, crews isolated the pipe break and were able to limit the number of locations without water service to approximately 75.
Customers in the impacted area (see attached map of the affected service area) that now have service should boil their drinking water as a precaution until further notice.
As of this morning, approximately 2,000 customers are under a precautionary boil-water advisory. This includes customers along Waverley Road, Spider Lake, Montague Road, Keystone Village, Port Wallace, Montebello, Craigwood Estates, and Avenue du Portage.
As water is restored to this area, and, if after 1:00 PM December 6, 2025;
If a customer determines that their property is within the impacted area Halifax Water is advising these customers that the water can still be used; however, it should be boiled for at least 1 minute before using water for:

This boil water advisory is precautionary and based on the prolonged loss of pressure resulting from a watermain break. The Boil Water Advisory is issued in accordance with permit requirements from Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change (NSECC).
Halifax Water continues to monitor the water quality and is closely consulting with NSECC and the Medical Officer of Health.
