Premier Stephen McNeil offered congratulations today, Feb. 27, to Gary Burrill on becoming the new leader of the Nova Scotia New Democratic Party.
“Leading a party is both challenging and rewarding,” said Premier McNeil. “I have a feeling Mr. Burrill and I won’t always agree on the best way to tackle the issues facing Nova Scotians, but I respect his decision to step up for the role. It shows a deep commitment to the people of the province.”
Premier McNeil also recognized Halifax Needham MLA Maureen MacDonald’s work as interim NDP leader.
“Ms. MacDonald has shown tenacity and dedication to Nova Scotians during her term as leader,” said Premier McNeil.
