Premier Extends Andrew Younger’s Leave, Suspends Ministerial Pay

Premier Stephen McNeil is extending Andrew Younger’s temporary leave from cabinet and suspending his ministerial pay.

The length of the extension is undetermined.

On Dec. 23, the premier granted Mr. Younger’s request for a temporary leave from cabinet to deal with personal matters.

The premier will not discuss Mr. Younger’s personal matters.

Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Michel Samson has assumed Mr. Younger’s cabinet portfolios — Energy, Communications Nova Scotia and Part I of the Gaming Control Act — temporarily. Mr. Samson is not receiving additional pay.
