Premier Stephen McNeil today, June 13, congratulated Pittsburgh Penguins captain and Cole Harbour native Sidney Crosby on the team’s Stanley Cup victory and being named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
“Sidney Crosby showed grit, tenacity and determination in leading his team to another Stanley Cup win,” said Premier McNeil. “Whether or not you’re a Penguins fan, Nova Scotians can be proud of how Mr. Crosby carried himself and the outstanding effort he brought to the rink every night.”
Mr. Crosby recorded six goals and 13 assists during Pittsburgh’s run to the NHL championship. He won rave reviews for his dominant two-way play.
It’s the second Stanley Cup win for Mr. Crosby since joining the Penguins in 2005. He’s also won two Olympic gold medals.
In 2009, Mr. Crosby was presented with the Order of Nova Scotia.
