Premier to Promote Investment Opportunities in Nova Scotia

Premier Stephen McNeil will promote Nova Scotia as a great place to pursue economic and investment opportunities during meetings in Toronto from May 22-24.

The Premier’s agenda includes meetings with the presidents of the Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and the president and the deputy chair of the TD Bank Group. He will also attend roundtables with senior company executives from a variety of sectors and deliver a speech at the Canadian Club.

The Premier will outline Nova Scotia’s advantages as a province on stable financial footing with a commitment to supporting innovation, the knowledge economy and business start-ups.

“There are many reasons the private sector should consider Nova Scotia for their investment decisions — including the educated, diverse workforce graduating from our post-secondary institutions, the growing spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and the livability of our province,” said Premier McNeil.

“As premier, I want to bring the message directly that Nova Scotia is open for business and on the move.”

On May 24, Premier McNeil will host a roundtable with young Nova Scotians living in Toronto to hear their thoughts on attracting young people to Nova Scotia and retaining them in the province.

The Premier will then travel to Ottawa, where he will meet with Nova Scotia’s federal caucus to discuss federal-provincial issues and host another roundtable with young Nova Scotians.

Premier McNeil also accepted an invitation to attend the annual National Press Gallery dinner on May 26, before returning to Nova Scotia.
