Premier travels to U.S. to spotlight Nova Scotia’s seafood and mineral exports

Provincial release:

Premier Tim Houston will promote Nova Scotia in New York and Boston this week and next.

In New York, he will host two roundtables with current and potential investors about opportunities in the seafood and critical minerals sectors. In Boston, he will speak at Seafood Expo North America, the largest seafood conference on the continent.

During these meetings, the Premier will address the impact of tariffs and emphasize the importance of trade with the U.S.

“Now, more than ever, we have to diversify our economy. We have to go where the buyers are,” said Premier Houston. “Nova Scotia has a lot to offer, from high-quality products like seafood and resources like critical minerals. We hope to increase our trade opportunities and put an end to President Trump’s unlawful tariff conflict so we can get back to business.”

Houston will also continue discussions with other premiers and the federal government on removing interprovincial trade barriers, improving labour mobility, and expanding into new markets.

As part of the 2025-26 budget, the province will invest in critical minerals, wind energy, and the seafood sector. The Nova Scotia Loyal program will also see more funding, and a new trade action plan will be developed with business and industry input.
