The biggest outdoor concert event of the summer is just days away. Crews are already busy preparing the Garrison Grounds at Citadel Hill for the highly anticipated return of Halifax Music Fest, running this Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27.
Produced by local heavyweights Sonic Concerts and Mighty Quinton Concerts, the two-day, multi-genre festival is expected to draw massive crowds to the heart of the downtown core with a lineup packed with national and international headliners.
The 2026 Lineup
The festival is splitting its massive roster across two distinct nights:
- Friday, June 26: Country and roots take centre stage with headliners The Chicks, alongside breakout star Shaboozey, Canadian icons Blue Rodeo, and Montreal-based folk-rockers The Barr Brothers.
- Saturday, June 27: It is a pure early-2000s alt-rock revival on Saturday night. Weezer will close out the festival, supported by Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, and Silversun Pickups.
What to Know Before You Go
If you are heading down to the hill this weekend, organizers have released a few key reminders to keep the entry lines moving smoothly:
- Timing: Gates open at 4:00 p.m. both days, with the first performances kicking off at 5:30 p.m. The headliners are scheduled to wrap up by 11:00 p.m. to respect local noise bylaws.
- Rules of the Grounds: The event is rain or shine. In accordance with Parks Canada regulations, the Garrison Grounds are completely smoke-free and vape-free. Leave the lawn furniture at home, as no chairs of any kind are permitted on site.
- Age Limits: All ages are welcome, but anyone 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If you plan to access the 19+ areas for alcohol service, a valid government-issued photo ID is strictly required.

Getting there
The Garrison Grounds sit in the heart of downtown, so parking near the site is tight and traffic in the area is likely to be heavy on both evenings. Arriving early is your friend here, and walking, transit, or a drop-off will save you the worst of the crunch.
