Product Review: BB Cream

Ally: If you had asked me three weeks ago what BB cream was I would have told you it was the lotion that Big Brother contestants likely slathered all over themselves before Head of Household competitions. I love that show. I would have been wrong, however.

I’m still not quite sure how to correctly describe this cream. It’s not really a foundation, nor is it a cover-up. Apparently it originated in Germany and was used post-surgery to help conceal scars. It’s now really popular in Korea, Japan, China and South East Asia, only recently making its way to Europe and North America.

I first heard about it during a visit to Mudwraps to Manicures in Bedford. I was about to pay up when I was pitched the cream and allowed the salesperson to apply it on my face (disclaimer: I cannot say no to anything, if they had asked if I wanted an enema performed in the lobby I would have dutifully obliged and forked over the money). Honestly though? I happily purchased my Lioele BB cream and have been in love with it since.

Now typically, I don’t like to wear anything on my face except for moisturizer and undereye concealer (mommy has some real dark circles), as I usually end up looking like this if I attempt foundation:

And sadly I do not have a voice of an angel to forgive my makeup mistakes.

It’s actually important to know that BB creams are not meant to be used as a coverup. Some sites suggest that you skip your moisturizer, but I think that is blasphemy. You only need a little (each time I’ve applied I’ve ended up with lots left over, I’ll never learn), and I find putting it on with a sponge is super helpful. Obviously I should have shown you photos of before and after, but I’m ridiculously vain so I avoid putting photos of myself in unflattering light on the Internet (mostly).

There are other brands to try, but the ladies at Mudwraps assured me that they were not up to par with Lioele. I believed them, and also accepted their offer to audition to be Tom Cruise’s next girlfriend. Gosh, guys, I’m kidding. That would be the only time I’d say no to someone. I’d say something like this:

Look for this link to appear heavily on our blog in the future.

Kisses, and say hi to the ladies at Mudwraps when you pick up your cream. I swear they didn’t pay me to write this.
