Prohibited driver produces fake international licence

Members of Liverpool RCMP were conducting routine patrols in Liverpool when they stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The driver gave police an international drivers licence that looked suspicious. The police officer checked into it further and determined the licence was fake, and also determined the driver was prohibited from driving. He was arrested, and was also given the Roadside Screening Device, resulting in a “Warn”.

The driver is facing a charge of Driving While Prohibited under the Criminal Code, and in addition, was served three tickets for the following offences under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act:

  • Displaying fictitious license
  • Driving motor vehicle without motor vehicle liability policy
  • Operating motor vehicle without valid driver’s license.

The driver is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on the prohibited driving charge on March 3, and for the Motor Vehicle Act offences, he is scheduled to appear on March 13.
