Proposed Old South Suburb Heritage Conservation District Survey and Open House

Friday, July 17, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is currently working on establishing a Heritage Conservation District in the Old South Suburb, which includes the area extending from Bishop Street along Hollis Street and Barrington Street to Cornwallis Park.

Residents are invited to participate in two public consultation opportunities being hosted as part of the ongoing approval process as follows: 

Survey:
Complete an online survey posted on the Shape Your City Halifax engagement tool at http://shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/old-south-suburb.

Survey questions relate to issues discussed in the Old South Suburb background study, including historic streetscape improvements, financial incentives and traditional character. Deadline for completed surveys is August 5.

Open House & Community Workshop:
Wednesday, July 22
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Halifax Central Library, 2nd floor, Lindsay Room

At this event, residents will have the opportunity to learn more about the proposed Heritage Conservation District and provide feedback.

Comments received through both of these public participation opportunities will assist staff in drafting a plan and by-law for the proposed conservation district.
