Prospect Road Community Centre Seeking General Manager

community_centre_logo_190The Resource Opportunity Centre (ROC) is a community based organization dedicated to connecting communities and creating opportunities through recreation, information sharing and technology. Since its inception in 1998, the ROC has been providing programs and services to serve the recreation and technological needs of residents living in the Prospect area through its C@P site operation, delivering summer programs, computer workshops, festivals, and socials for all ages, and has significantly contributed to building a strong community by connecting the public from Goodwood to West Dover through the development of www.prospectcommunities.com.

In the spring of 2007, the ROC was approved as the manager for the new Prospect Road Community Centre (PRCC); a project realized by a Steering Committee made up of dedicated community volunteers and Halifax Regional Municipality. The PRCC is a state of the art facility being built to LEED silver standards which will serve youth, adults, and seniors alike, further continuing to meet the recreation and service needs of the community as a whole.

General Manager
Prospect Road Community Centre & ROC C@P Site

The ROC is seeking applications from community minded leaders looking to fill the position of General Manager for the Prospect Road Community Centre and ROC C@P Site (presently located in the Terence Bay Elementary School).

If you are a positive, highly motivated team leader with a passion for progressive, thriving communities, we want to meet you. You are skilled at being sensitive to the needs of children, youth, adults and seniors, as well as donors, volunteers and stakeholders, and will be an outstanding ambassador for the PRCC and C@P Site.

You have a Bachelors Degree in Recreation, an undergraduate degree in business or public relations and three year’s experience, or a suitable combination of education, training and experience. Extensive knowledge of Facility Management and Community Development, a basic knowledge of recreation programming, community assessment and evaluation, human resources management principals, occupational health and safety regulations and financial management are preferred. You are an effective leader, can motivate and manage staff, and you are comfortable with the budgeting process. You have exemplary writing and marketing skills, and are proficient in a variety of computer applications, including the internet.
