Halifax District RCMP reminds you to protect your gifts from The Grinch.
“It’s that time of year when Grinches gear up to steal holiday presents,” says Cpl. Dal Hutchinson of Halifax District RCMP. “Deter thieves by protecting gifts in your vehicle and at home.”
In your vehicle:
If you have to leave gifts in your vehicle, keep them out of plain view. Hide them or lock them in the trunk.
Grinches prefer dark areas where they can sneak around unseen. Avoid Grinch-friendly places by parking in well-lit areas at night.
At home:
Lock all doors and windows in your home.
If you put up a Christmas tree, ensure your tree is not visible from outside. If it is, refrain from putting gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve.
If you witness people acting like Grinches and taking what does not belong to them, the Halifax District RCMP asks you to contact them at 911 or 902-490-5020. Should callers wish to remain anonymous, they can call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), text TIP202 + your message to CRIMES (274637) or by secure online tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
