Government has purchased the Kings County Municipal Building from the Municipality of the County of Kings.

The building houses three courtrooms, provincial and supreme court judges’ offices, court support staff facilities, a crown prosecutor’s quarters, sheriff’s offices, registry of deeds and probate offices, a local provincial assessment bureau, a barristers’ library, and holding cells.

The building, located on Cornwallis Street in Kentville, also includes municipal offices.

It is expected that owning the building will be less expensive in the long run than potentially leasing from a private owner.

The purchase price of the building is $4.2 million.
