Province Sends Best Wishes to Paralympians Set to Compete


Best wishes are being sent to Canada’s Paralympians, including Nova Scotians, as they prepare to compete in Rio for the 2016 Paralympic Games, which begin Wednesday, Sept. 7.

“These athletes work hard and train hard for the honour of representing our country. They are exceptional sporting ambassadors, not only for Canada but for Nova Scotia,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “I hope these Paralympic Games are a wonderful experience for them.”

The Paralympians from Nova Scotia are:
— Paul Tingley, Halifax – sailing
— Scott Lutes, Mahone Bay – sailing
— Devin Gotell, Antigonish – swimming
— Danial Murphy, Bedford – swimming
— Jamey Jewells, Donkin, Cape Breton Regional Municipality – wheelchair basketball
— Pamela LeJean, Sydney – F53 shotput/discus
— Jillian MacSween, Halifax – goalball
