Provincial: Highway 6 Closed Due To Fatality And Multiple Collisions

January 30, 2013, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia . . . Highway 6 is closed between the intersection of highway 366 and Route 6 (Port Howe) and the intersection of Tidnish Road and Linden Road, traffic is being re-routed onto highway 366.

At approximately 14h00 emergency response vehicles from a local Fire Dept were called to a single vehicle rollover with entrapment in the community of Linden. While en route, one of the emergency response vehicles came upon a second collision where a vehicle was off the road and two other vehicles were stopped on the highway to render assistance. The emergency response vehicle went out of control and collided with all three vehicles sending them into the ditch. Of the 8 people associated with the three vehicles, two men were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

One of the men later succumbed to his injuries, the condition of the second man is not known at this time. A collision re-constructionist has been called to assist with the investigation and the road is expected to be closed for several hours.
