Provincial: Ice Falling From TV Tower Forces Evacuation

Cape Breton Regional Police caution citizens in the Hardwood Hill area on the potential danger of ice falling from the CTV tower on George Street.

As temperatures rise, large chunks of ice are dropping; because of the size and the height they are falling from, they pose potential for significant damage. Police and Fire Services are currently on scene evacuating residents at Cameron Estates, where one piece of ice fell through the building.

Police urge extreme caution to citizens and motorists in and around the areas of the CTV building, on George Street, Stewart Street, Tower Heights and Cameron Estates.

Further updates on potential impacts to this area will be provided as necessary.
