Intersection closure – Upper Water Street at Barrington Street

Work details: This closure is to facilitate work on the Cogswell District project<www.halifax.ca/cogswell>. Crews will be installing signal poles in their final locations, increasing the grade level of the street, completing the installation of underground utilities as well as realigning and repaving the new roadway.
Traffic impacts: Upper Water Street, at the Barrington Street intersection, will be closed to all traffic. Vehicles will detour along Barrington Street to Cogswell Street. Access to Casino Nova Scotia, Purdy’s Wharf and the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel will be maintained via the southern portion of Upper Water and Cogswell streets.
Drivers should expect delays are asked to use alternative routes whenever possible.
Pedestrian and cyclist impact: The multi-use path along Upper Water Street will be closed between Barrington Street and Purdy’s Lane.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to cross Barrington Street to a temporary multi-use path connection along the west side of Barrington Street that will connect to Cogswell Street and the existing multi-use path along Upper Water Street heading south.
