PSA – New Street Trees Coming to Jubilee Road

Wednesday, July 15, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Fifty-two new street trees will be planted this week along Jubilee Road.

Thirteen hardy tree species have been selected for planting and, in years to come, will beautify the neighbourhood and branch out to form a protective canopy cover.

The Urban Forest Master Plan was adopted by Regional Council in 2012 and since then has provided staff with a blueprint and direction to plant more than 3,000 new street trees.

This year the goal is to increase the number of planted trees by more than 50 per cent.

Contractors will begin work on Jubilee Road tomorrow (Thursday, July 16) at 9 a.m., and will continue until they are done planting, likely on Friday.

Residents and motorists should expect some delays along Jubilee Road between Pryor and Walnut streets.

Drivers are reminded to reduce speed when passing through work areas.
