PSA – Road Closure – Broad Street (south)

Road Closure – Broad Street (south)
Location: Broad Street, between Larry Uteck Boulevard and Evandale Lane

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work details: This work is for the construction of a new roundabout<www.halifax.ca/home/news/road-construction-larry-uteck-boulevard-5> at the intersection of Larry Uteck Boulevard, Broad Street (south) and Brookline Drive. This project supports the 2021-25 Regional Council Strategic Priorities Plan<www.halifax.ca/sites/default/files/documents/city-hall/budget-finances/2021%20StrategicPrioritesPlan_Final.pdf> to establish a safe and accessible integrated mobility network and will improve access to and from current and future developments in Bedford West.
Traffic Impact: Construction crews are completing sensitive curb construction work on a portion of the roundabout that will require some restriction of on-site movement. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during this period. Access will be maintained to local businesses.
One lane of traffic will be maintained on Larry Uteck Boulevard in each direction during peak hours (7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.) and there will be stop-and-go traffic during non-peak hours. Motorists may experience increased delay on Dec. 15 during non-peak hours as construction crews complete work on portions of the site.
Transit Impact: Transit routes 90 and 194 will be detoured through Abbington Avenue and Evandale Lane between Larry Uteck Boulevard and Broad Street. Transit stops 2027/2028 (Broad Street before/after Larry Uteck Blvd) and 7027 (Larry Uteck Blvd. before Belle St.) will be affected during the road closure. For complete details, visit halifax.ca/transit<www.halifax.ca/transportation/halifax-transit/service-disruptions>.
Pedestrians: Pedestrian access will be provided around the construction site with the assistance of traffic control personnel during working hours. Temporary rectangular rapid flashing beacon signals will remain in place south of Broad Street / Brookline Drive to help pedestrians cross Larry Uteck Boulevard.
