Road Closure – Intersection of Barrington and Cornwallis streets

Location: The primary travel lanes running north and south through the Cogswell Interchange, from Barrington Street south of Cornwallis Street, will be closed until the opening of Detour Road #1 in mid-December (see attached maps).

Traffic Impacts
Motorists: The primary lanes running north and south through the Cogswell interchange south of Cornwallis Street will be closed until a by-pass road opens in mid-December. For southbound travellers, the intersection of Barrington and Cornwallis streets will become a T-junction: motorists will detour via Upper Water or Cornwallis streets. For northbound travellers, motorists will detour via Upper Water Street. Upper Water Street between Barrington Street and Valour Way will be one way for eastbound traffic. Access to Department of Defence via Valour Way remains unchanged. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternative routes.
Transit: Stop 6104 southbound will be relocated slightly to the north. Stop 6089 northbound will be closed. The following transit routes will be on detour:
* Inbound: 1,2,5,10,29,41,84,93, 158,159, 161,165,168A,168B,182,183,185,186,370 * Outbound: 84
Stop 8414 northbound on Upper Water Street before Valour Way will reopen. Stop 8413 southbound after Valour Way will remain closed.

Pedestrians: Sidewalks will be closed in the impacted area. Pedestrians will follow the same detour as motorists via sidewalks on Cornwallis and Upper Water streets. Signage will be in place.

Cyclists: Cyclists will follow the same detour as motorists on Cornwallis and Upper Water streets. Signage will be in place.

Transport trucks: Transport trucks will use the centre lane at the Barrington and Cornwallis street intersection for turning movements onto Upper Water Street.
