Road Closure – Upper Water Street
Location: Upper Water Street from Duke to Barrington streets
Date: Friday, October 28 to Monday, October 31
Time: 9 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday
Work details: This work is for the installation of a new section of water main located along Upper Water Street in support of the Cogswell District project<halifax.ca/cogswell>. This work is in preparation of a by-pass road<www.halifax.ca/about-halifax/regional-community-planning/construction-projects/cogswell-district-redevelopment-2>, which is expected to be in place in late fall 2022.
Traffic impact: Residents will be directed around the construction area by signs and traffic control personnel. A marked detour will be in place from Upper Water and Duke streets to Upper Water and Barrington streets, near the Baton Rouge restaurant.
Northbound vehicular traffic on Upper Water Street will be detoured west at Duke Street to Barrington Street. Transport trucks travelling northbound will detour at Lower Water Street moving west on Morris Street. Cyclists will be required to share the road with vehicular traffic and follow the detour signs in place. Access to businesses will be maintained.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes.
