Road Construction – Barrington Street and Upper Water Street
Location: 2156 Barrington Street to 2388 Barrington Street
Date: Saturday, April 2, 2022 (Inclement weather date: Sunday, April 3)
Time: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Work details: This work is for the excavation and removal of redundant underground infrastructure in support of the Cogswell District project<www.halifax.ca/about-halifax/regional-community-planning/construction-projects/cogswell-district-redevelopment-0>. This work is in preparation of a by-pass road<www.halifax.ca/about-halifax/regional-community-planning/construction-projects/cogswell-district-redevelopment-2>, which is expected to be in place in Summer 2022.
Traffic impact: Two lanes will be closed in the northbound direction and a single lane will be closed in the southbound direction between 2156 and 2388 Barrington Street. Lane drops and altered center lines will be in place while work is underway. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. Personnel will be on-site to direct traffic and pedestrians. Motorists should expect delays.
Bus stop #6089 (Barrington Street after Upper Water Street) will be closed for the duration of the work. A temporary bus stop will be provided on the east side of Barrington Street, south of Cornwallis Street.
