Public Consultation Wraps Up with Halifax Session, Webcasts

Nova Scotians have more opportunities to help define the long-term future of the province’s electricity system at a public meeting in Halifax and a live webcast in French and English, today, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.

“We’ve heard from hundreds of Nova Scotians so far at sessions from Yarmouth to Sydney,” said Energy Minister Andrew Younger. “Tonight’s webcast will provide another opportunity for people who weren’t able to attend a face-to-face session.”

The webcast will be available in French and English by visiting http://novascotia.ca/stayinformed/webcast/ . It can also be accessed at www.novascotia.ca/electricityfuture .

Ten public sessions have taken place around the province since Sept. 10. Face-to-face meetings include an interactive presentation by Mr. Younger, a workshop to gather feedback from the public and a question and answer period with the minister.

Tonight’s final session is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. in Room 303, Dalhousie Student Union Building, 6136 University Ave., Halifax.

The live webcasts will begin at 7 p.m., and will include a presentation and Q and A hosted by the minister, with simultaneous interpretation for the French webcast. Questions for the Q and A session can be e-mailed to electricityreview@gov.ns.ca or tweeted using the #electricityfuture hashtag.

Nova Scotians can also provide written comments, fill out an online survey, which will be available later this month, or tweet with the hashtag #electricityfuture on Twitter. The feedback will help government understand Nova Scotians’ priorities for the future electricity plan.
