Public meeting to discuss disposal of former Cherry Brook Community Centre

Friday, Sept. 18, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is hosting a public information meeting next week to provide details on the upcoming disposal process being undertaken for 220 Lake Loon Road & 266 Cherry Brook Road, the site of the former Cherry Brook Community Centre.

The property is surplus to municipal use and will be sold in accordance with Administrative Order 50, the Disposal of Surplus Real Property.

Recognizing the property’s potential for community use due to its historical presence and contribution to the community, Regional Council categorized the site as a community interest property as per Administrative Order 50. This allows non-profit organizations who have a vision for the site’s continuing value to community members, to be eligible to purchase the property at a lower than market value price.

The public meeting will provide information to potential property purchasers on the process in place for the disposal of community interest properties, including the application and evaluation criteria and site-specific details regarding the property for sale.

Date:                   Thursday, Sept. 24
Time:                   7 p.m.
Location:            Black Cultural Centre, 10 Cherry Brook Road, Cherry Brook
