Public Service Announcement Municipality to open first free playbox

**** Halifax Media Release

Public Service Announcement
Municipality to open first free playbox

Residents are invited to the opening of the municipality’s first playbox this Saturday, June 8 at Aberdeen Court Park.

From 2 to 3 p.m. park users will have the opportunity to use the playbox for the first time. Other activities include an opportunity to give input about improvements to the park asphalt pad and a free BBQ.

A playbox is a container filled with a variety of gently used outdoor play equipment for community members to enjoy. Residents can borrow and play with the equipment and return it when they’re finished. Community members are also encouraged to bring along any used recreation equipment they wish to donate to the playbox.

The expansion of this program is currently being explored.

What is a playbox?

A playbox is a container filled with a variety of gently used outdoor play equipment for community members to enjoy. It’s as simple as play, return, donate!

Everyone is invited to borrow and play with the equipment and return it when they’re done. We also encourage residents to donate any used recreation equipment that they wish to contribute to their local playbox.
