Public tip leads to charges in break and enter

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man after asking for the public’s assistance identifying a suspect in a break and enter that occurred last month in Halifax.

On December 8 police released a photo of a suspect in a break and enter in-progress at a residence in the 1500 block of South Park Street in Halifax that occurred on November 19. Investigators identified the suspect after receiving a tip from the public.

Arlen Duane Whitty, 50, of Halifax, was arrested on December 12 and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of break and enter and assault.

Police thank members of the public and the media for their assistance with this investigation.
