Publication Ban Requested for Human Rights Board of Inquiry

A respondent in a human rights inquiry has requested a publication ban on evidence the Human Rights Commission is seeking to introduce at an independent public board of inquiry Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Leon’s Furniture disputes claims of racial discrimination by Garnetta Cromwell and is contesting her claim for lost wages.

Leon’s is contesting the introduction of the evidence and will ask board chair Kathryn Raymond to prohibit the media from hearing the arguments or the nature of the evidence to be admitted.

The application to introduce the evidence and the responding publication ban application will be heard in the McNab Room, Holiday Inn Harbourview, 101 Wyse Rd., Dartmouth. Submissions from media should be made at that time.
