Right now puddle jumping happens to be one of Aidan’s absolute favorite things to do. Rainboots or not, if the boy sees a puddle he’s slamming his feet into it as hard as he possibly can. And god love him, he won’t start to complain about a soaker until he toes are nearly numb from the cold, but that’s really no way to play. Being dressed in the right gear whether it’s a warm snowsuit or a complete set of quality rain gear, it’s worth it to keep those little ones dry, warm and happy!
Puddlegear by Abeko is made of Atek which is a very light, soft, tear-resistant, wind and watertight material that allows a full range of motion. It’s also Öko-Tex {sounds like echo-tex} certified which is a European standard that tests for over 100 harmful substances. There is no PVC or phthalates in any of the Puddlegear products.
All eco-friendliness aside though – moms need to know: does it work?
You bet. And astonishingly well, actually.
This picture above is of Aidan tromping around the block in his Puddlegear suit a few weeks back. It had plenty of use while the snow was melting but it’s also become a part of his daily wardrobe for play outside in the lovely {dirty, messy, wet} spring weather. There are boot straps on the bottom of his Olle Pants to keep the pants on top of his boots so water can’t get in. The snap closures on the jacket are extremely well made – not a chance I’ll lose a snap when pulling this Albin Jacket. To freshen things up you can machine wash Puddlegear and hang to dry. Aidan’s has been machine washed and it came out looking great.
For sizing, you’ll want to measure your child to be sure. Puddlegear fits from infant to teenage and there is already “growing in” room accounted for. Aidan’s in size 110cm {4-6 years/37-48lbs/42-46″} and has lots of growing room. I’m guessing this suit will fit him for one if not two more seasons.
Puddlegear is meant to last and really do it’s job, and yes the price reflects that. These aren’t your $10 pair of “splash pants” that soak through after fifteen minutes of play. This is real rain gear, made by a company that has specialized in oilrig and fisherman’s rain gear for 65 years! The Olle Pants that Aidan is wearing {complete with knee patches for added durability and reinforcement} are $59 and his Albin jacket is$63.
