Purple Day passed unanimously in House of Commons

Geoff Regan, M.P. for Halifax West expressed delight at the unanimous support in the House of Commons for his Private Members Bill to promote epilepsy awareness.

Bill C-278, an Act respecting a day to increase public awareness about epilepsy, passed Third Reading today and will now proceed to the Senate. The bill establishes March 26th as Purple Day, a day each year when we Canadians wear purple to raise awareness of epilepsy. This is the only opposition private members bill to be passed in the House so far this session.

“I want to thank Cassidy Meagan, the young girl in Halifax West who founded Purple Day, and the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia for their hard work and dedication to this cause,” said Regan. “Because of you, people with epilepsy will know they are not alone and they have the support of all Canadians.”
