HRP provides information on Quinpool Road incident and officer assault

Halifax Regional Police would like to confirm it is aware of social media posts and a photograph of an incident that took place in the 6200 block of Quinpool Road, Halifax involving a man being arrested by officers this evening. The incident is currently under investigation and charges will be laid. However, we are able to share initial information related to the incident.

At 3:35 p.m., HRP officers were in the area and observed a vehicle being driven in an unsafe manner, which led to the vehicle being stopped and a collision investigation was conducted. As a result of the investigation, a male driver was issued a summary offence ticket, upon which he proceeded to physically confront the responding officers. ​

Additional officers responded to provide assistance, which is when the male assaulted one of the other officers. In order to carry out the arrest, one of the officers deployed a conducted energy weapon to restrain the individual. He was subsequently taken into custody and will be facing assault police charges. He has since been released on a promise to appear.
