Quinpool Road’s Annual Pet Parade A Very Green Pet Parade

On Saturday November 24, pups, dogs and pooches will be taking over Quinpool Road as they take a stroll down the street during Quinpool Road’s Annual Pet Parade.

The parade, which has become a popular Holiday event for residents in the area, brings out many pups dressed in their finest holiday attire including reindeer antlers, Santa hats, ugly Christmas sweaters, jingle bells and tutus!

The parade will start at 1pm when pets and their owners meet in the Halifax Veterinary Hospital parking lot, at 6485 Quinpool Road. Pups will lead their humans from Halifax Vet along the north side of Quinpool, to the corner of Robie and Quinpool, cross at the crosswalk, and then head back on the south side of Quinpool

The parade will be led by an HRM Police Officer, Santa Claus and Quinpool Road’s new Ambassador Quinpool Rhoda. During the parade one dog will be chosen to be this years’ honourary Quinpoodle and win a Halifax Vet gift certificate!

The event is free and there is no need to register. The first 30 pets to arrive will receive a free small pizza coupon for their owners, courtesy of Freeman’s Pizza on Quinpool Road and a two-for-one coffee card and dog cookie grab bag courtesy of Dilly Dally Coffee Café.

“We are not aware of any other Holiday Pet Parades taking place in the city. Quinpool Road is very pet friendly, a lot of the merchants are animal lovers, and many of the people who live in the community enjoy walking their dogs on Quinpool Road”, says Quinpool Road Mainstreet District’s Association’s Executive Director, Karla Nicholson. “This will be a very green parade, no vehicles or gas emissions – just pets and their people”. “And this year promises to be our best turn out yet.

Halifax Veterinary Hospital will also be hosting SPCA Santa Pics immediately after the parade from 2pm to 4 pm. Owners can have their pet’s photo taken with Santa at a cost of $15.00. All proceeds go to the SPCA.
