Rainfall warning in effect

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Halifax Metro and Halifax County West

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A heavy rainfall event is expected over parts of the Maritimes today and Saturday. However there is still some degree of uncertainty with respect to the location of heaviest rain. Current guidance is suggesting general amounts 50 to 80 mm over parts of Nova Scotia, with the heavier rainfall expected tonight and Saturday. As is the case with most heavy rainfall situations, the total amount of rain is not necessarily the problem, but rather the rate at which the rain falls.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
