A low pressure system near the Great Lakes will intensify as it tracks into Southern Quebec today. This system will push a strong warm front across the region today. Rainfall amounts greater than 25 millimetres are expected in counties along the Atlantic coast as well as most of Cape Breton.
The combination of this rainfall with the recent significant snowfall and frozen ground conditions could result in ponding of water as well as challenging surface conditions, especially as air temperatures fall back below freezing again early on Tuesday.
In addition, southeast winds gusting to 130 km/h are expected to develop in the Lee of the Cape Breton Highlands this afternoon and evening.
