Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that Rainnie Drive will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from approximately 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate WE Day activities taking place at the Scotiabank Centre.
Halifax Regional Police will control traffic at the entrance to Rainnie Drive at Cogswell Street, allowing access only to school buses and those with parking permits for the north side of Rainnie Drive. Parking restrictions will be in effect on the south side of Rainnie Drive, and will be marked using “Special Event” signage. Please note access to the Rainnie Drive bicycle lane and sidewalks will remain open during this street closure.
“Special Event” signage will also be in effect on the west side of Albemarle Street, along with bagged parking meters, to indicate a No Parking/Tow Away zone for the duration of the day.
Motorists are asked to expect delays, plan alternative routes and use extra caution when travelling throughout the downtown core, given the thousands of youth who will be attending the event.
The municipality regrets any inconvenience this street closure and parking restrictions may cause.
