Ravi Persaud Chats To Stephen Prickett

Stephen Prickett fell in love with the guitar at age fifteen. With a sharp musical ear, he taught himself to play a number of pop-punk and alternative rock covers. Within a year, he was writing his own. Ravi Persaud interviews Stephen in our LIVE broadcast studio.

For his sixteenth birthday Stephen got his first acoustic guitar; for his seventeenth — a multi-track recorder for putting down demos. After graduating high school, Stephen started jamming with longtime friends Andrew and Craig Buston, along with guitarist Dan Stronks. Their attic jam sessions wrought an experimental folk rock aesthetic: solid rhythms, ambient electric effects, and earnest vocals. Adding cello and violin rounded out the group, which became known as Ichyrus Flight. In 2006 they recorded their first album, which was well received by friends and fans in southern Ontario. Since then, Stephen has begun working on a slew of new solo material, hoping to connect with a more timeless form of songwriting. He now resides in Halifax, playing shows and writing songs whenever he has the opportunity.http://www.myspace.com/stephenprickett
